The SSC CHSL (Staff Selection Commission - Combined Higher Secondary Level) examination is a highly competitive and sought-after exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission of India. Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Age Limit (As on 01-08-2024):
The crucial date for age reckoning is fixed as 01-08-2024 in accordance with the provisions of DoP&T OM No. 14017/70/87-Estt.(RR) dated 14-07-1988. Age limit for the posts is 18-27 years i.e. Candidates born not before 02-08-1997 and not later than 01-08-2006 are eligible to apply.
Permissible relaxation in upper age limit for different categories in accordance with extant Rules/guidelines of Government of India are as under:

Exam Pattern:
The SSC CHSL exam consists of three stages:
Tier I: Computer Based Examination (Objective Type)
- Total Marks: 200
- Total Questions: 100
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Subjects: General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.
- Each section carries 25 questions, and each question carries 2 marks.
- There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
Tier II: Descriptive Paper (Pen and Paper Mode)
- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 1 hour
- The paper consists of an Essay of 200-250 words and a Letter/Application writing of approximately 150-200 words.
- The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 percent.
Tier III: Skill Test/Typing Test
- Skill Test for Data Entry Operator: Candidates should have a data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on the computer. The skill test is of qualifying nature.
- Typing Test for LDC/Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant & Court Clerk: Candidates should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) in English or 30 words per minute (w.p.m.) in Hindi. The typing test is of qualifying nature.
